Biathlon
The Ukonniemi stadium with its surrounding environment offers an excellent and world-class setting for training biathlon. A shooting range with 30 lanes is equipped with the latest target range technology. The Ukonniemi race tracks and the roller ski tracks were made to match the international standards for competing. The first snow track opens annually in October, offering a chance to hold skiing camps also in Southern Finland. The other practicing ranges and versatile accommodation choices complete the ensemble, offering great conditions to host camps and competitions.
The services of the biathlon stadium and other training facilities
Such as the Ukonniemi Stadium, the surrounding network of ski tracks, and other sports venues in the Ukonniemi area, offer an excellent setting for camps and competitions.
Target Range
Ukonniemi Stadium was completed in 2015 and it has a 30-lane target range, which is equipped with automatic Kurvinen Biathlon Targets.
Roller skiing track
The roller skiing track in Ukonniemi is among the best tracks in Finland designed for ski sports summer training. Completed in 2015, the track is modern and has a profile similar to current competition tracks.
First snow ski track
The first snow ski track is made every autumn on top of the roller skiing track and in the surrounding environment. Season 2024 will start on 17th October with 2 kilometer long track.
Ski track network
During the snow season, Ukonniemi offers access to a 35 km ski track network. The race ski tracks in Ukonniemi comply with the FIS standards.
Storage premises and other services of the stadium
Storage premises can be reserved for camp groups at the Ukonniemi Stadium.
Dressing rooms and showers are located in the adjacent Aviasport Areena. Toilets can be found both in the auditorium and customer service point of the stadium.
The customer service point is open every day when the first snow skiing track is open. At other times, please contact the Stadium Manager.

Ski wax cabins
There are 14 ski wax cabins located in the vicinity of the Ukonniemi Stadium. The booths have mechanical ventilation and can be rented in connection to training camps and competitions.

There are two downhill skiing centres within a 25 min driving distance for Nordic walking on slopes in summer.
The centres have several slopes with an elevation of 70 metres for the training.
Freeski in Ruokolahti and Myllymäki in Lappeenranta.
Accommodation and catering
Hotel Rento
Hotel Rento is the largest log building in Northern Europe. It offers comfortable accommodation in a total of 29 rooms. The hotel is located next to Ukonniemi Stadium. Ski tracks and the roller skiing track start practically right at the front door of the hotel. The hotel specialises in sports group. For example the content and timing of meals can be tailored to the needs of each individual group.
Saimaa Life & Saimaa Light holiday apartments
Saimaa Life has six two-storey cabins that are made from ecological materials and have a total of 25 apartments of varying sizes. The apartments have a kitchen, a terrace or a spacious balcony, and an electric sauna. Saimaa Light apartments are an excellent choice for sport groups. Saimaa Life & Saimaa Light holiday apartments are located next to Ukonniemi Stadium. Ski and roller skiing tracks start practically from the doorstep of the apartments.
Imatra Spa
Imatra Spa offers comfortable accommodation in a spa environment by the beautiful Lake Saimaa only 1.5 km from Ukonniemi Stadium. The selection of the spa hotel ranges from economic Sport rooms to high quality holiday apartments. In addition to the pools, the spa has a gym, an indoor ball game facility, indoor sports facilities, and physiotherapist and massage services. Ski and roller skiing tracks start right at the front door of the spa hotel. The first snow skiing track extends all the way to Imatra Spa.
Holiday Club Saimaa
Holiday Club Saimaa boasts a magnificent location by Lake Saimaa only a 5 minute drive from the sports facilities in Ukonniemi. Whether you stay in the spa hotel or holiday apartments, you will be ideally located to enjoy the wide range of leisure time services found in the area. Holiday Club Saimaa has a gym, padel- and tennis courses and other sports facilities.
Hotel Rauhan Marina Village
Spacy holiday apartments with 2 bedrooms, living room and own well equipped kitchen. Sauna with large hall and kitchen on the ground floor. Located nearby the Holiday Club Saimaa. Good choice for sport camp groups.
Ice rink restaurant – Café 57
Café 57 is located at the ice rink and serves customer during its opening hours. The restaurant provides team meals for camps, tournaments, and games subject to order. Also snacks, dressing room catering, and the like are available subject to order.

Ukonniemi testing center
The Ukonniemi testing center offers services to private individuals and groups. The testing services are intended for people exercising for fitness as well as top athletes of different sports.
The testing center services include versatile possibilities for determining health, body composition, muscle balance, respiratory and circulatory system health and the performance of the neuromuscular system. Nearly all available testing services can also be performed outside the center in a sport-specific environment.
Ski maintenance
Saimaa Sport Oy specialises in ski maintenance services, and it is located conveniently in Ukonniemi Stadium. The service selection includes waxing, scraping, and repairing. Scraping of skies is done with the Mantec scraper that utilizes the latest technology. The company also has a comprehensive selection of equipment and waxes for sale.
SkiErg
Concept2 SkiErg skiing equipment can be rented for training camps.
The device can be used to practise double pole and classic alternating arm technique indoors regardless of the weather. Concept2 SkiErg provides an excellent opportunity to test and practise physical skills in controlled conditions.
Bus transportation
Where required, we will organise transportation to and from Imatra as well as any on-site transportation needed.
Leisure time activities
The Ukonniemi area offers a wide range of leisure time activities. For example a cruise on a sauna raft, a visit to a rope adventure park, or tailored team building programme are excellent ways to enhance the team spirit. The area also includes a Frisbee golf and golf courses, tennis courts, and two bowling alleys for leisure time activities.
Ecoaims
Optical ecoaims shooting equipment can be rented for the use of camp groups. Ecoaims are excellently suited to biathlon shooting training.
They allow for firing a large number of shots at a low cost, as no bullets are needed.
Rifles and targets can be rented for €10/h/piece (1-6 available).

Biathlon Canada training camp
Biathlon Canada had at Imatra in November 2020 their pre-season prepairing camp for the World Cup opening race at Kontiolahti. Imatra Base Camp organized accommodation and training conditions - ski track, shooting range and gym - according to current coronavirus resrictions, Covid-testing and host services for everyday local arrangements.
Czech biathlon team's training camp
The Czech Republic’s biathlon team organised their preparatory training camp at the Ukonniemi first snow track and biathlon stadium in October and November 2017.
Lithuania biathlon team's training camp
The Lithuania biathlon team had their pre-season training camp at the Imatra Ukonniemi first snow track and biathlon stadium in October 2020. The camp also prepaired the team for the World Cup opening race at Kontiolahti
